Why can't NASA just bite the bullet and launch a plainly simple mission, audited by flat earther peers start to finish that definitively proves to even the smallest minds that the earth is an oblong spheroid, and not flat?

The fact of what you see out of the window of a Qantas airlines flight as it flies from Australia to South America - not following the route it would have to take if the Earth was flat.
Why?
Tens of thousands of photos of Earth from every distance from high altitude aircraft - though Earth orbit - the Moon - various Lagrange points - from our robots driving around on Mars - and on out to the Voyager spacecraft. Every single photo shows beyond doubt that the Earth is a very nearly perfect sphere.

We have footage from both professional and 100% amateur camera-equipped balloon launches that CLEARLY show the curvature of the horizon at altitude. The Flat Earthers claim “Lens distortion” - but can’t explain how that exact same camera produced a flat horizon right after launch.
Even if you deny the compass headings - tf you add a fourth city - there is no way to draw them out to scale on a flat piece of paper with the distances coming out right.
I don’t want my tax dollars flushed down the toilet trying to disprove a totally ludicrous theory to a bunch of total idiots.

Their explanations for how the sun rises and sets (EITHER due to atmospheric refraction - OR due to their bizarre altered laws of perspective) would result in the sun becoming very elliptical as it approaches the horizon…clearly it doesn’t…ditto for moon rises and setting.
We have people living and working at the South Pole - which the Flat Earthers deny the existence of.
They can’t explain gravity and they don’t agree which of about four different half-assed nonsenses they come up with is correct…which is because all four of them utterly fail to explain the observable facts..
We have the “Coriolis Force” - which is a consequence of the curvature of the Earth. People who train as snipers have to compensate for it when they shoot to the North and South - and not when they shoot to the East and West.
We have more gravity at the poles and less at the equator…less on mountains - more in valleys - they can’t explain that either.
You can see the Moon is the opposite way up in northern countries than it is in southern countries - and appears sideways if you’re at the equator. That can’t happen on a Flat Earth.
If you pick three cities that are quite far apart - compare the compass headings to each one with the distances between them - you’ll find that you cannot draw the triangle formed by them on a flat surface that reproduces both the distances and angles.
The Coriolis force also explains why hurricanes ALWAYS rotate in opposite directions north and south of the equator. Flat Earthers can’t explain that.
For the Flat Earthers to explain the results of Eratosthenes experiment to measure the circumference of the Earth (which you can EASILY do for yourself) they have to place the Sun about 4,000 miles above the Flat Earth. That would mean that the sun would only be about 30 miles across. They cannot POSSIBLY explain how such a tiny object can generate enough energy to keep the Earth warm.

You can see that the shadow of the Earth - cast onto the Moon during a lunar eclipse is CLEARLY curved.
Then we have the Foucault pendulum which demonstrates the rotation of the Earth.
We have MOUNTAINS of evidence proving that the Earth is round.
Why are the Chinese so sensitive to Western criticism?
The way compass needles always point to the Southern Cross constellation in the Southern Hemisphere CLEARLY disproves the Flat Earth hypothesis. They can’t explain why the Southern Cross would have to be everywhere at once if their Flat Earth map was true.
We have THOUSANDS of satellites in orbit - some (like the ISS) are visible with the naked eye. Heck - the words I’m typing right now are coming to you via probably two or three StarLink satellites…also not possible in a Flat Earth.
If you sit at home and learn how to use the “PING” program on your computer - you can plot approximate times that it takes for a data packet to reach various web sites around the world. This very approximate measure of distance - and if you collect PING times from enough cities and plot them on a map - it totally disproves the Flat Earther map.
The motion of the planets against the background stars - cannot be explained by the Flat Earthers.
(Oh - and FYI it’s an “OBLATE” spheroid - not “OBLONG”.)
You can see the phases of the Moon - and with just a pair of binoculars you can CLEARLY see that it has mountains that cast shadows across the surface - which you wouldn’t see if the Sun and Moon are where the Flat Earthers claim.
OK - I’m getting bored now…I could easily double the number of bullet points for this answer.
We have more than enough proof that the Earth isn’t flat…if people are too stupid to understand any of them(!!) - then that's their problem - not ours.
SO WHY THE HELL WOULD WE WASTE A BILLION DOLLARS ON SOMETHING THAT THE FLAT EARTHERS WOULD **STILL** DENY AS A FAKE.
They try to explain the tides as water being mysteriously attracted to the Moon - conveniently forgetting that there are TWO tides per day - one when the Moon is overhead - and another about 12 hours later when the Moon is nowhere close.
Their lame explanations for how the sun moves in order to produce day and night would result in the sun rising and setting in the North and South in many parts of the world.
